Marple Quakers and Methodists hold a joint service

In January Marple Quakers and Marple joined with Marple Methodists for a shared service. This had been a regular annual event until the disruptions of 2020 - so all were very pleased to do it again!

Quaker recognised for their service
26 February 2024
Jane Muers from Rugby, part of Leicester Area Meeting, has been publicly recognised for her services to the community in Warwickshire. Jane's service has taken many forms, including serving as a volunteer Quaker Prison Chaplain for more than 20 years. Her many other activities include supporting mental health chaplaincy in the area and setting up a charity supporting people with dementia and their carers.

Progress on reparations
22 February 2024
Following the commitment from Yearly Meeting in 2022, BYM Trustees agreed to establish a Reparations Working Group (RWG). The group's remit is to explore how reparations might be made for the harm done by British Quakers through the transatlantic chattel slave trade, colonialism, and economic exploitation.
