QWRC 10 October 2026
Quaker World Relations Committee (QWRC) met and we considered various pieces of business about relations between Quakers in Britian and Quakers in other parts of the world.
What is this committee responsible for?
Quaker World Relations Committee (QWRC) helps Britain Yearly Meeting keep in contact with other Quaker meetings and groups abroad, understand their witness, communicate ours, and maintain mutual support. QWRC liaises with the global Friends World Committee for Consultation (FWCC), and in particular with its Europe and Middle East Section (EMES).
What did it do at this meeting?
We spent time with visitors from Quaker Peace & Social Witness and Quaker Committee for Christian and Interfaith Relations considering the question “How do the interfaith relations of Britain Yearly Meeting impact on our YM's relations with Friends around the world?" We didn't find the answer, but it was a fascinating and thoughtful conversation.
We heard from a Quaker couple from Yorkshire about their time as Friends in Residence at Pendle Hill, Pennsylvania. They spoke of the deep welcome they received from Friends. A reflection on their stay is available on page 10 of Among Friends. Like Woodbrooke, Pendle Hill provides opportunities for online learning and worship. See their website: Pendle Hill.
We heard about various Quaker activities and events, including German Yearly Meeting and the EMES All Age Gathering near Cologne. See the front page of Among Friends for a report.
We also looked ahead to prepare for events in 2027 that need our committee's preparation, and ways of reducing our committee budget.
