QPSWCC 24 September 2026
Quaker Peace & Social Witness Central Committee (QPSWCC) considered two linked issues, around how to respond to rising hatred and division in society, and on migration and refugees.
What is this committee responsible for?
QPSWCC oversees national Quaker efforts to build a sustainable and peaceful world and helps shape Quaker positions on public affairs.
What did it do at this meeting?
The committee heard about ideas for work to challenge hateful and divisive narratives in public life. It emphasised the importance of delivering our messages with compassion and love, not contributing to the polarisation of voices.
The committee also considered a proposal for Yearly Meeting to look at issues of asylum and migration, and what QPSW could do on this issue. It recognised the practical work that many Friends are carrying out around these issues, the connections with challenging hatred and division discussed earlier, and the need to consider this issue as part of the QPSW strategy revision work underway between now and 2027.
