"Volunteering - spiritually rewarding and energising"
2027 is going to be a bumper year for our children and young people with an exciting programme of events at all Yearly Meetings.
However, to make the programmes possible, we need volunteers!
Are you able to offer your time, enthusiasm and friendship for any or all of the CYP events on 20 February at Friends House, 1 May at Friends House, 24–28 July at the University of Hull, and 20 November at Friends House.
For Charlotte Lake, volunteering with the Children's Programme begins with joy. "I love working with the children and young people," she says, "every session is a different delight."
"That delight is found in the small moments of a programme shared together. It is pure joy to laugh together about funny things, listen to the inspiring thoughts and aspirations of our young people and share in Quaker activities together."
For volunteers, the experience is not simply about helping to run an event. It is an opportunity to listen, learn and be part of a lively Quaker community.
One memory stands out for Charlotte: "One of my favourite Meetings for Worship was a closing session at Yearly Meeting in May 2026, with parents, children, staff and volunteers in the George Fox Room. It brought the whole community together; a glimpse of what becomes possible when people offer their time and presence."
"For many people, volunteering is spiritually rewarding and energising," said Simon Hardie, Quaker Life team leader for Children and Young People. "It's an opportunity to support young Friends, share Quaker activities and discover what we can all bring to our community."
