Finding Your Confident Quaker Voice
Do you sometimes struggle to speak with confidence about your Quaker beliefs and practices?
Can you speak passionately about peace, equality, truth, simplicity, and sustainability, but suffer brain freeze when you attempt to explain where those values come from or why they matter?
Then struggle no more! In mid-October, the Quaker Life spiritual nurture team will be offering Friends a friendly, interactive, 4-week online workshop to help you find words for what matters to you, explore how Quaker faith shapes your life, and gain confidence in sharing your perspective with others.
Together we'll reflect on our own Quaker journey, explore how to talk about Quaker faith in everyday conversations, practice speaking with authenticity and confidence and learn from one another's experiences.
"When we find the confidence to speak about our spirituality, faith, and values, our own spiritual lives are often enriched and deepened," said Ruth Audus, the Quaker Life Team Lead for Spiritual Nurture. "For many Friends, being Quaker is a source of meaning, joy, and purpose. Being able to share that experience with others is not only rewarding, it can strengthen our own sense of connection and conviction."
Whether you're new to Quakers or have been involved for many years, these workshops offer a supportive space to develop your voice and connect with others.
"Ultimately, having a confident Quaker voice is not about speaking louder," said Sophie Smith, head of Supporting Quaker Communities. "It's about speaking with authenticity, clarity, and courage, so that Quaker values and experiences can be heard, understood, and shared with others."
The workshops will be held on October 20, October 27, November 3, and November 10 at 7pm. Please only register if you're able to make all four dates. Thank you.
