Meeting houses remain closed
8 June 2020
During the Coronavirus pandemic meeting houses have been closed and Quakers have been meeting online and from their own home. Now the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government has announced that from Monday 15 June places of worship in England will be permitted to open for individual prayer in line with social distancing guidelines.

Quakers in Britain are pleased to be co-launching Build Back Better, a new campaign for a green and just recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The campaign says let's not go back to normal.

Communities of colour are over-policed and under-protected

The Coronavirus Act gives police powers to detain anyone they think might be infectious. A group of human rights, racial equality, community, faith and health organisations – including Quakers – say the police powers granted to enforce lockdown are disproportionately impacting people of colour.

UK pension funds investing billions in nuclear weapons

A survey of UK pension funds and banks released today reveals that billions of pounds are invested in companies that are producing nuclear weapons. The report 'Banks, Pensions and Nuclear Weapons: Investing in Change' is launched by the UK Nuclear Weapons Financing Research Group, comprising researchers from UK faith groups including Quakers in Britain.
