OCT 18

The Future of British Quakerism

18 - 20 October 2024, Staffordshire

British Quakerism is at a critical juncture and this major conference will be an opportunity to address the pressing questions about its future. We will explore ways to support our communities and our spiritual lives in the face of change.

The conference will feature four key note presentations from Paul Parker, Rhiannon Grant, Shena Deuchars and Ben Pink Dandelion exploring questions such as: Where is British Quakerism heading?; What do the latest survey results show?; and What does it mean to be a Quaker in Britain today? There will also be a number of workshops which will explore five different themes:

  • Membership, Commitment and belonging; what is required to belong to a Quaker community?
  • Theology and Identity; How does our theology relate to our Quaker identity?
  • A Confident Quaker voice; How do we share the Quaker way with confidence?
  • Equality, Diversity and Inclusion: How do we make our Quaker communities truly equitable?
  • Resource: What resources do we need to nurture our worshipping communities?
  • Every Area Meeting is invited to send a representative but there are open places as well.
