JUN 1

Jewish Earth Wisdom

1 June - 6 July 2026, Online

In an age of climate crisis, how can Jewish stories of water, plants, fire, earth and animals draw us into more respectful relationships with the more-than human world? Drawing on the Torah, Talmud, and traditions of devotional storytelling, this course introduces Friends to the ecological dimensions of Jewish life.

Over six sessions, we will explore key themes in the Jewish tradition that can guide us during times of crisis. These texts will be drawn from the Jewish biblical, Rabbinic, and Hasidic traditions. Tales of Talmudic Rabbis and tales of the Hasidim will inform our exploration. Weekly prompts for spiritual practice and further reading from contemporary poetry, alongside optional music offerings, will be offered on Moodle. Our six sessions will be:

1) Intro to Jewish Spirituality and the texts of the Jewish Canon

2) The Ways of Water

3) Because Man is a Tree of the Field

4) The Torah of Fire

5) Animals that Speak

6) Place and Belonging

Live sessions will take place on Zoom every Monday at 19:00-20:30 (UK time).
